General Assembly 2006 Held at Sogang University

The AJCU-EAO General Assmbly of 2006 was held in Sogang University last August 22-23, 2006.  During this assembly, the delegates representing eleven of twelve member HEIs and HEEs shared the state of affairs in their schools with each other.  Dr. Antonette Palma-Angeles, AVP of the Ateneo de Manila University, then gave a talk on, "The International Programs of the Ateneo de Manila University" to stimulate bi- and trilateral relationships among the members.
 
During the annual business meeting, the proposed revisions in the Constitutions and ByLaws were explained, discussed, revised, then endorsed to the principals for ratification.  Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J., President of the Ateneo de Naga University and Dr. Byungdoo Sohn, President of Sogang University, were elected Chair and Vice-Chair respectively of AJCU-EAO for a three-year term.  The budget for 2006-07 was approved.  A resolution re-confirmed the desire to the body to organize a leadership training seminar for selected young Jesuits with potential for educational leadership.  Finally, it was decided that the next meeting would tackle issues of education and globalization.
 
Dr. Byungdoo Sohn, President of Sogang University, warmly welcomed the AJCU-EAO to Sogang University.  A highly competent team under Dr. Heongsik Cheung, Director of International and Public Relations of Sogang University, provided the preparations, facilitation and documentation for the assembly.
 
After the closing Eucharistic Celebration on the evening of August 23, 2006, President Sohn hosted the assembly to dinner and celebration of Korean culture in Korean House.
