Updates from Ateneo de Davao

SC JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
 SC Johnson and Son, Inc. Philippines is launching its scholarship program in Ateneo de Davao University starting SY 2007-2008. Fr. Antonio S. Samson SJ, University President, together with Mr. Jeremy S. Eliab, Coordinator of Scholarship Programs, signed the Memorandum of Agreement with SC Johnson's General Manager for Malay Cluster (Philippines, Malaysia & Singapore), Mr. Ramon Alejandro P. Daez, its HR Director, Mrs. Glo Panganiban last 12 January 2007. The grant covers 100% tuition and fees and P2,500 book allowance per semester for a scholar enrolled in a Bachelor of Science four-year course. Application forms can be obtained at the Admissions Office or can be downloaded from the University website.

KOREAN MAYOR VISITS THE UNIVERSITY
 Hon. Byung-Kwon Moon, mayor of Jungnang District in Seoul visited the University last 7 February 2007 together with Mr. Roberto Teo, former dean of Graduate School and now OIC of City Investment Center. Mayor Moon met Fr. Antonio S. Samson SJ before seeing the University Libraries, the Finster Auditorium, the speech laboratories and film editing bay. He was hoping to send students from his city to the University starting next school year.

ATENEANS GOT 100% PASSING IN ARCHITECTURE BOARD EXAM
 The University President congratulated the University graduates who passed the Licensure Examinations for Architects conducted in January 2007. The Ateneo de Davao University passing rate is 100% (5/5) while the national passing rate is 50.34% (370/735). The following are the new architects: Lini Grace O. Agan, Ronald Bryan P. Ancla, Beljon May R. Blones, Michael Jed F. Madrazo, Catrina Joy Y/ Patron. Fr. Samson also congratulated Dr. Jessie B. Manuta, Dean of School of Arts and Sciences, Engr. Randell U. Espina, Chair of Engineering and Architecture Division and Arch. Wilfredo Z. Policarpio, Coordinator of Architecture program and the faculty and staff of school for the excellence in forming the new architects.

COMMITTEE ON FACULTY ETHICS
 A Committee on Faculty Ethics was formed by the University President last 12 February 2007.  The committee was tasked to assist the President and the Deans, Division Chairs and Program Directors or Coordinators where there might be cases lodged against College faculty members by students. The President clarified further in his memoranda that other complaints pertinent to grades and academic matters should continue to be handled by the Standards Committee of the College Academic Council and/or the Deans. Division Chairs and Program Directors or Coordinators. Members of the committee are: Mr. Alfredo L. Alpas (SAS), Ms. Edna Pepita T. Carvajal (Guidance Center), Atty. Arlene L. Cosape (SBG), Mr. Neil Ryan P. Pancho (SAS, Faculty Club President), Ms. Emily E. Rodriguez (CON), and Ms. Patricia L. Silva (SAMAHAN President). The committee would be chaired by Mr. Esmeraldo B. Lampauog, Director of Personnel.
