Ateneo de Manila University Establishes
Student Exchange Programs
with Two AJCU-EAO Member Schools

Sogang University (SU), Korea

Dr. Michael Cheong, Director of Sogang University’s International and Public Relations Office visited ADMU from November 30 to December 5, 2006. Dr. Cheong met several administrators and faculty members to learn more about ADMU’s programs and to explore possibilities for academic cooperation. A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between the two universities shortly after Dr. Cheong’s visit. Among the activities included in the agreement were student and faculty exchange and English language training for SU students to be provided by the Ateneo Language Learning Center (ALLC). A student from SU is currently studying at ALLC for a two-month English language training course. ADMU plans to send 5 of its junior undergraduate students to SU in September 2007 as part of the exchange program.

Sophia University, Japan

Officials from Sophia University will visit ADMU on March 5, 2007 to discuss and strengthen the existing student and faculty exchange programs. A faculty member from ADMU, Dr. Mari-jo Ruiz went to Sophia University as a visiting professor. She left for Japan in November 2006 and will end her program in February 2007. At present, there are exploratory talks about bringing science major students from Sophia University to ADMU for a week-long program in August 2007 that will include English language training involving scientific texts.
